Every dollar goes a long way to help support the children and their families. See below or a brief history of the project from Monica A. Eguilos, one of the Barangay Kagawad (Neighborhood Council member), with the official request and a detailed description of the project.
I hope you and your immediate family will join this Villanueva effort to give back to our hometown.

To Friends of Barangay Poblacion,
Greetings from the community of Poblacion Santo Tomas La Union!
In 2016, I approached Mrs. Rosemarie Villanueva Amurao in establishing and funding of the Balik Eskuwela Project (BEP). She readily agreed and indicated that she’ll do it to honor the memory of her father, Mayor Dominador Estacio Villanueva, Sr.
Mrs. Amurao, together with her daughter, Carmel Vanessa, and nephew Jesse, continued funding the program. Her niece, Heather, who happened to be vacationing in the country, helped in the purchase and distribution of the school supplies.
The purpose of the BEP is to help Preparatory and Elementary students from indigent families living in Poblacion, Santo Tomas, La Union. This project aims to help struggling parents cope with one of the most expensive responsibilities they face every school year. Buying new school supplies has been a burden to many of them and majority of the poor families we visit find these school expenses overwhelming.
Hence as volunteers, we solicited and distributed supplies such as, notebooks, writing materials, and school bags. This is our action to help lessen the parents’ burden with these additional expenses as the school year approaches. As the 2019 school year comes near, we would like to continue this project for the benefit of their children’s education.
Children that are academically prepared have higher self-confidence, self- worth, and pride, which in turn, results in better grades. We also know how the sight of a brand-new bag and school supplies spark a child’s excitement every school year. Help us extend this token of joy to hundreds of poor children and inspire them as they gear up for another year of learning.
We are asking for your most benevolent sponsorship and whole-hearted support.
If you wish to donate, please contact Heather, administrator of the “Balik Eskuwela Project” for more information. Provided below are the list of school supplies needed:
